Breast Cancer
Unleashed
Everything you need to know about breast cancer but are too embarrassed to ask.
Lia and Laila unleash about ridiculous, hard-to-share subjects, with top experts. Where nothing is out of bounds and every topic is appropriate.
Thought-provoking, transparent, daring, and lively conversations about diagnosis, treatment, and recovery from breast cancer by women for women.
Annually, millions of women around the world will hear, “You have breast cancer.” It is a devastating diagnosis that creates not only fear of the unknown, but also shock and panic. For most, a cancer diagnosis stops you in your tracks–you know your life has officially been altered. You become part of a club that you never wanted to join. But with friendship and sisterhood from those who have successfully navigated through breast cancer to those with a new diagnosis or who are going through treatment can gain much needed information, truth, and comfort.
That is how Laila and Lia met. From the first conversation, the two forged a sisterhood filled with love, laughter, and the desire to successfully support other women who receive this devastating diagnosis and, dare to say it, joyfully heal back to health. And it was not without laughter, humor, and the acknowledgement of the most difficult of emotions, together, that the two women are now cancer free.
‘We understand the challenges women will face on their breast cancer journey. Breast cancer can strip you of yourself physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Questions loom because of fear in all areas. Breast cancer can dominate years of your life; mustering up the strength to manage on your own now altered life is difficult,” say the women.
This challenge is so much better when friends are around to support you. And year over year, breast cancer seems to be on the rise and sufferers seem to be getting younger and younger.
“Lia and Laila’s ‘Breast Cancer Unleashed’ podcast fearlessly dives into taboo topics surrounding breast cancer. AUTHORS’ STATEMENT
With our experience as patients/survivors and having lived with cancer, you gain a new sense of courageousness, and you better believe we will ask the difficult or embarrassing questions because we had those questions ourselves! Our goal for this podcast is to bravely shine a light on what women will experience going through breast cancer and beyond. This show is not only to highlight the difficulties and struggles women have while facing breast cancer but also how they can live fearlessly despite the diagnosis. We want the diagnosis to be different but knowing that you can’t change what is, we know that it is important to shift perspective and move through cancer treatment in a way that allows for smiles, joy, laughter as well as fear, sadness, tears. All emotions are appropriate and so are all topics! Too often we have programs and support groups that only focus on the struggles of breast cancer. But what about being able to live in happiness as well? Studies show that if you can have a positive outlook, survivorship increases. Let’s face it. Getting a diagnosis of cancer is horrible. But you CAN navigate meaningfully in a way that eases negativity and fear. We want women faced with breast cancer to know how to do that successfully.
